Welcome to The Home Depot Virtual Party!! For today’s party, DIY bloggers created a customized version of this fun DIY Bottle Opener Game..
On Saturday, June 10th, this project will be the featured build at Home Depot DIY Workshops across the nation. I know what you’re thinking…is there a class near me? Click HERE to find out! Also, you can click HERE to give your feedback on this and previous workshops!
If you’ve never attended a Home Depot Workshop, there are three types of Workshops—Do-it-Yourself (DIY), Do-it-Herself (DIH), and Kids—geared toward all ages and experience levels. The workshops are held at every store, and offer a variety of topics ranging from home repair to tool instruction, and even building home decor projects!! Not to mention they’re a great place to work on your skills and meet new friends who love to DIY!
Okay so without further ado, here’s how I customized my DIY Bottle Opener Game:
I first cut the plywood backing to size. I had scrap leftover from another project so I opted to use 3/4-inch plywood for the backing and miter 1 x 3 boards for the frame pieces. To customize the project, I created a slatted pattern on the backing using paint sticks! I’ve never tried this before and didn’t know how to “plan” it out, so I just stained all the pieces and cut them as I went. Along the way I learned a few tricks that made it MUCH EASIER — which I’ll be sharing in a full tutorial next week! Lastly I added the bottle opener, screws, and the “points dividers” near the bottom for scoring.
What do you think? How would you customize this project?
