DIY Pet Bed by Build Basic

Today I’m so excited to be teaming up with my friends at BuildSomething to bring you free building plans for this DIY Pet Bed! If you haven’t checked out BuildSomething.com, it’s a fantastic resource for free building plans, and has a great community atmosphere for readers to request projects, post plans, and share projects! Sounds right up our ally, right?

So for this project, I wanted to create a pet bed that was more reminiscent of a piece of furniture, without being too kitschy. When I started adding curves to the design, I thought it might come off more difficult, but the curves are wide and arching and a breeze to cut. Plus, we all know I’m horrible at staying inside the lines with a jigsaw, so if I can do it, you can too! Which is all to say, if you have a jigsaw and some plywood, you’ll LOVE how easy this project pulls together.

On a side note, my little guy, Titus, is notoriously nosy when I’m shooting anything at his level. The day I was snapping a final shot for this project, he moseyed right up and climbed in for a nap. Ipso facto, this pet bed comes pre-puppy-approved;)

      Hi Kathy,
The pet steps here (https://build-basic.com/build-diy-pet-steps/) are pretty sturdy and can hold me walking up and down them (gently), But if you’re concerned, you could always adjust the design to accomodate 3/4-inch plywood instead of the 1/2-inch plywood I used. Hope this helps! Thank you for reading!! –Jenn
